An Oozing 100

Had to update to say I had the Disgusting Oozeling drop out of the 100th bag I found. Kinda awesome. :)

Who knows... maybe the trend will continue and I'll get the Baron's mount on my 100th (since statistics were added) run through there. I'm at 90 kills so far with nothing... but who knows -- anything could happen!

Jaina and Zelda

Just realized today the similarities between Jaina Proudmoore and Princess Zelda.
  • They have the same white dress and purple sort of bodice piece.
  • Shoulder armour, but not much else.
  • Long, blond hair and blue eyes.
  • Magical abilities.
  • Both are princesses (of sorts), far away from their homeland.
(Half of this post was lost due to Blogger not working for a few days, so train of thought is gone... but that was about the gist of it.)

So I cancelled my WoW subscription. Didn't log in for a couple months, not even just before the time ran out. I sometimes wish I could still log in, but I don't really have anything in mind to log in for. Maybe some PvP. Hm....

Lists.

I haven't logged in in weeks and it feels weird but also not. My poor characters must be collecting dust. I wish I had things to post here cause I like writing for the blog, but by lack of playing, there's not a lot to post about!

I was thinking I should make a new list (because there have been many past lists for many things) of Cataclysm things I should do, which seem like a shame to not have done yet. For example, "The Day Deathwing Came" quest in badlands, or making a non-beta Goblin, seeing the new plaguelands, lifegrip... et cetera. Maybe it will inspire me.

Although there are lots of non-WoW things to be excited about right now, like Portal 2! So soon.

One of Those.

I've finally become "one of those". The casual player. Not that I was ever super-"hardcore", but I definitely put a lot of time and effort into the game over the years, usually always a raider. I've unhooked myself. I can step into Azeroth when I want to, and be enamored when I'm there, but also step out easily and mostly forget about Azeroth until I log in again on a slow evening.

I'm glad, though. I don't think I'll ever stop playing completely (I love the characters I've created too much), but I feel like I actually have time to do other things, at least once I stop thinking about and have finished moving (I'm moving!). I have a few paintings in mind, and some songs I want to transpose for the cello.

I did manage to finish SCII a few weeks ago, and then worked on SCII and Portal achievements (but that's for another post!). I'd be playing Mass Effect if I wasn't saving all my money until after said moving.

As a casual, I mostly log in to do random dungeons, look at how the guild's progressing, check mail on alts, and level my worgen rogue (slowly but surely). My two mains are only barely geared to enter heroics, not that I've tried them yet. Except for the heroic thing, it sounds like anyone else doing dailies. It's just not daily for me! Oh, and I still read WoWinsider all the time, heh.

Any other casuals reading this? What do you do when you log in? How long have you been a casual, and how much do you play?

Minions of Hakkar, hear your God!

The sanctity of this temple has been compromised. Invaders encroach upon holy ground! The Altar of Blood must be protected. Kill them all!

Er, I mean. HURRAY! ZG is coming back! :) I'm excited to see what this new version will be like. There will also be new versions of the mounts that managed to elude me, which I'm looking forward to getting. (I bet Blizzard was planning this right from when they took the raid out, by the way.)

Just when I was thinking, "WoW just isn't that interesting anymore," ZG comes along again... not that this turns my thoughts around completely. But it's still something nice to look forward to.

Boat Rides and Authenticators.

My druid likes to go for boat rides through the Stormwind canals while he waits for the instance queue to pop, it's calming. As soon as one loop finishes, I fly him back to the start. I'll be sad when the boats go at the end of the Love is in the Air holiday.

Also, my authenticator always seems to float around my desk... every other time I go to log in, I have to do a little search for it. There aren't even that many things on my desk! It's usually hiding under my keyboard.

They'll be calling me any day now.

I don't think a night elf can be "in the dark" about something.

I was questing through the new Darkshore on my worgen (super fun by the way, got to the zone's 90 quest achievement very quickly), and came across a night elf in the Mathystra's post area who admitted to being "in the dark" about some of the troll activity. I read the sentence again and thought, how does that work? That shouldn't be a phrase that nights elves are familiar with or relate to! If anything, that should make something even clearer! They live in the dark!

Obviously, Blizzard needs me on their writing team. I would be a great quest editor.

Your Inbox Is Full

The worst part about the lunar festival holiday is the spam that fills my mailbox. I guess things could be worse.

The best thing about the holiday (this year) is that I will complete the Strange Trip meta achievement on Xylia and get speedy flying for free. Hurray!

Kitteh, Slayer of Dragons

This is what I have to say to the loading screen dragons of old.

I can only wish that my cats would do that. Though, I don't have a CRT anymore and such an attack would kill my monitor. At least we have this video.

Expert, Artisan, Master.

My hunter has 3 consecutive achievements for archaeology skill... you can tell what I've been up to.

Fire, Fire Everywhere.

There should be an achievement for getting killed by Deathwing's rampage multiple times. Like, "Somebody Doesn't Like You -- Get killed by Deathwing 5 times".

And if you haven't achieved "Stood in the Fire" yet and have a death wish, leveling your archaeology is the way to go. I promise.

Gotta Read the Tooltip, I Guess.

So, I still haven't really... adapted to Cataclysm. Honestly I think the transition to Cata was terrible; the events were fun, but they were not smooth. It just sort of happened in chunks, never really happening at all. But that's not what this post is about.

This post is about how I just hearthed from one end of The Commons to the other, because I assumed my hunter's hearth was Stormwind! I thought, "Wait a minute... this reveler looks familiar...." I'm not used to all my character's hearth locations not being the same, because some I haven't changed yet and the others I haven't aligned, on top of that I can't decide if I prefer Ironforge or Stormwind. Whoops!

Happy Holidays!

Hope everyone's having a good Christmas/holiday break!

I'm glad the Winter's Veil holiday lasts through till January... because I haven't had any time to do my achievements yet!

Waiting, waiting.

Having a hard time waiting for the announcement of the winners for the cake contest...!

Two days until holiday freedom from exams. Then there will be [more] Christmas decorating, gift shopping, work, and Cataclysm!

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Ahhhhhhh

Soooo much cake making! Almost done....

Monday, December 13, 2010

Phew.

Been busy over the last week with the end of classes, and now extra work shifts, that I haven't played much of Cata yet. I've leveled my warrior about 2/3 of the way through Vashj'ir, reaching level 82, with a bit of scattered questing/exploring/profession[ing] on other characters. Plus I made my worgen rogue and got him through Gilneas; the story ends somewhat abruptly.

And there will won't be much Cata for me tomorrow either, as I'll be making my entry for the 2010 Blizzard holiday cake contest! I've never used fondant before, so it will be quite the cake adventure. Wish me luck!

Last Chance

Tonight is the last chance for any major female Worgen updates to go live... just thought I'd throw that out there.

Had some pre-Cata fun in Stormwind this evening, lining up some Pilgrim's Bounty feasts from the bank to the new auction house.
I've still got 51 left, got to think of somewhere good to place them before they expire!

I've decided to start Cataclysm with my warrior and hunter. Let's see how long I go without itching to heal. Have fun tonight, everyone! :)

Friday, December 3, 2010

Wow!

I've now had over 1000 visitors to my blog! Thank you to everyone who's stopped by, I hope you've enjoyed the read. :)

So I've finally decided my worgen will be a male rogue, who will tie into the stories of my other characters nicely. I've never wanted to play a rogue much, but now I'm excited for it. AND this means avoiding the goofy female worgen. Win-win!

If only I could decide what to level as my main, come Tuesday. I've narrowed it down to warrior/hunter/priest, but which?!

Analogies, yeah!

So many new players/tanks seem to have trouble understanding the tooltip for Taunt, that it's not effective if the mob is already attacking you.

Then I thought of it like healing: taunting when you already have aggro is like healing a person who's already at full health. They can't get any healthier!

You could even say it's like attacking a target that's already dead - it's not going to get any more dead!

Did You Know?

Did you know you can Intervene (warrior friendly charge) to shaman totems?
